A Challenge

I have made the mistake of accepting a challenge...from myself. Those are never good, are they? There is no point in forgetting it either. It's the name of my blog: "Once Upon a Dictionary." That's right folks, a dictionary. One of the most under-appreciated books in the world is the focus of my challenge.

"What is this challenge?" Glad I imagined that you asked. This challenge is to look at the word of the day on my dictionary.com phone app and write about it. It can be a short story or a poem. It doesn't matter, as long as I write it.

So, this blog is my creative journey. Each day I will try to practice my writing and explore my vocabulary.

I just need one thing from you non-existent readers: PRAY!

I'm so screwed...

P.S. I start my challenge when I start my challenge.

Bloggedy blog

This is my first official post on this blog. It's a bit daunting looking at all this white space that my words should fill up. I've deleted my post 5 times this far--maybe I'll stick with this one. It's a thought.

Right now, I'm currently invading Adrenaline's dorm room before Finch's concert.

I have no idea what to talk about.

I suppose I could talk about school, but that sounds rather boring.

I could talk about how I'm willing myself not to be sick so I can go to the concert.

It's not working.

I think I'll just say this:

Welcome to my first blog post! On this blog, you will not find magical words or transportations to a different universe. You'll just find me. Sorry to disappoint. But hopefully something good will come of this...maybe? Cross your fingers.

Sketchbook Week 6

This is the beginning idea of the cover to one of my books. I'm still fiddling with fonts and I wanted a hand drown picture of a street leading up to a creepy haunted house. All you would see of the house would be the door and maybe the porch.

Sketchbook Week 4

The book I chose is called Stiff: the Secret Life of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. The pages head a running header that had a different typeface than the body of the text. It's set in justified. The font of the body is Times New Roman size 12 with a 1 inch margin. There are also footnotes that are also Times New Roman but are a smaller size. The page numbers are at the top of the page each on the outer edge.

Week 3 Sketchbook

Herculanum was created by Adrian Frutiger in 1990. It was based off of Roman cursive letterforms. It was named after Pompeii's sister city, Herculanum.

Geneva was created by Susan Krane. It was originally a redesign of Helvetica.

Zapfino was created by Herman Zapf in 1998. It was based on an alphabet that Zapf penned in 1944.

There is no information about the typeface Noteworthy that I could find.
